The desired candidate will have a PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, or related discipline with a demonstrated ability to analyze and integrate biological systems data using statistical and machine learning or other data science approaches. They will be expected to contribute to ongoing research projects within CVD and IGS, participate in trainee mentoring and international capacity building. Ideally, the candidate will develop an independent research program that aligned with CVD and IGS missions supported by federal and non-federal funding sources. Individuals with research experience in academia, industry and government will be considered.

The future Assistant Professor is expected to develop a strong and visible research program in the area of methods and tools development in computational biology and bioinformatics for medical applications. To provide bioinformatics services and computational biology expertise to support clinical and research operations. This includes (in collaboration with the system admin analyst), the maintenance of computer hardware and software, databases (biological and other) and websites to facilitate current and new public health laboratory research and clinical activities and the conduct of research projects, sophisticated analyses and protocol evaluations.
