    We are currently recruiting a Research Fellow who will join the laboratory of Professor Simon Redfern at the Asian School of the Environment Nanyang Technological University (NTU) to work on experimental studies of Earth materials at extreme conditions.Job Responsibilities Apply ab initio quantum mechanical methods to predict the structures and properties of Earth and Planetary Materials at extreme conditions Use both CALYPSO and AIRSS methods to compare and verify the results of structure predictions in particular in relation to understanding volatile cycling in the solid Earth Prepare literature surveys to outline research / technology development in the field Participate in research program including research experiments and data collection Prepare reports and documentations for the research programs and support data analysis Assist in duties related to lab safety documentation training of student researchers and outreach of research results Job Requirements PhD degree in computational structure prediction of solids or relevant field with minimum 3 years of experience I deally with experience in the use of CALYPSO and AIRSS codes with VASP and CASTEP as well as the validation of structure using methods such as PHONOPY H ave a background in the application of the above methods to materials under extreme conditions of high pressure relevant to the Earths interior Evidence of published output in relevant scientific literature and research communication through invited conference talks Basic understanding of the scientific principles behind the research activities Attention to detail and procedures Effective communication and report writing skills Links to external organisations relevant to the topic Willingness to learn and develop new skills We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
