IPS conducts applied computational research in areas that include genomic structural and molecular informatics computational and systems biology patient selection and translational biomarker research and broader fields including knowledge science epidemiology and machine learningacross the full lifecycle of drug discovery and development and across all therapeutic areas at BMS. We are seeking a highly motivated bioinformatician with preclinical or clinical experience to join our Translational Bioinformatics late stage Immunology Cardiovascular Fibrosis and Neurology (ICFN) team within Informatics and Predictive Sciences group. The successful candidate will help advance Bristol-Myers Squibbs industry leading ICFN late stage clinical programs through the strategic application of cutting edge bioinformatics approaches. Responsibilities Analyze various -omic-scale data generated from human subjects in BMS clinical trials and other observational cohorts including RNA-Seq Exome and Whole Genome Sequencing high throughput proteomics and multiplex flow cytometry in order to validate pharmacodynamics effects confirm mechanism of action and enable patient enrichment strategies. Integrate and mine large-scale external data sets to further our understanding of ICFN diseases and patient treatment options. Extract insights and generate hypotheses to be evaluated in future trials and to inform our discovery pipeline. Collaborate with bioinformaticians statisticians biologists biomarker leads and clinicians to design experiments. Define and implement statistical/computational analysis plans. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in bioinformatics engineering statistics physics molecular biology genetics or a similar discipline and 5+ years of academic / industry experience OR Master's Degree in bioinformatics engineering statistics physics molecular biology genetics or a similar discipline and 3+ years of academic / industry experience OR PhD in bioinformatics engineering statistics physics molecular biology genetics or a similar discipline. No experience required Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in bioinformatics engineering statistics physics molecular biology genetics or a similar discipline. Relevant experience in preclinical or clinical research. Experience with designing experiments and performing statistical analysis. Solid statistical training and knowledge in hypothesis testing statistical inference regression analysis data mining etc. Strong background in -omic (DNA RNA epigenetic proteomic) data analysis and biological interpretation. Working knowledge of commercial and publicly available biological databases including NCBI Ensembl ArrayExpress/GEO and SRA is expected. Solid background in Immunoscience (rheumatology and dermatology) or cardiovascular diseases. Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills rigorous and creative thinking Ability to communicate effectively with biologists clinicians biostatisticians and computational scientists.
