PNNL is seeking an undergraduate student for assignments within the energy storage related project as part of the Physical Sciences Division (PSD). The Materials Sciences group is looking for individual who have a passion for solving critical materials challenges using advanced computational, statistical, and mathematical techniques. As a student intern, you will join a talented, multi-investigator team to design electrolyte materials using computational methods. You will be mentored by Dr. Vijay Murugesan and other prominent senior investigators in the field of material science within PNNL. You will be given an opportunity to develop computer codes, design scripts for new data visualization & analytics, work with large dataset derived from quantum chemistry based computational research. What will you do: Develop computational tools for high throughput quantum chemistry analysis. Maintain and curate large data sets from computational molecular dynamics analysis. Provide data visualization, representation and computational technical support to other team members. Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be degree-seeking students enrolled at an accredited college or university. Candidates must be taking at least 6 credit hours and have an overall GPA of 2.5. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated programming skills with Python or similar platforms A functional grasp of molecular structure and chemical properties Experience in organizing and visualizing large dataset from various sources Strong verbal and written communications skills Preferred Education/Credential (not all need to be met): Pursuing a Bachelor or Master degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, Chemistry or equivalent Experience in computer-aided design programs such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD Proficiency in mathematical programs such as MatLab The ability to adapt, refine, or innovate computational scripts/codes as needed.
