Our protein engineering team in Johnston, IA is seeking a creative and motivated individual to share in our mission of building novel and sustainable solutions for the future of agriculture. We develop and leverage cutting edge technologies including comparative genomics and strategic randomization to design, build and screen libraries to evolve proteins for the development of molecular tools and traits for scientists, farmers and consumers. The successful candidate will work as a source of knowledge for sequence and structure-based computational analysis of protein leads and provides optimized designs. Evaluates/implements new or improved methods to increase throughput and/or accuracy of molecular modeling workflows. Analyzes data sets to discover relationships between protein sequence, structure and key properties. Develop predictive models for improved protein scaffolds to support the discovery and optimization of novel plant traits to help feed the world. Qualifications A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in bioinformatics, protein engineering, biochemistry, bioengineering or related discipline. Demonstrated experience of critically analyzing and distilling complex scientific problems with excellent communication, collaborative and interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of proteins structure and function, physical properties optimization Working knowledge of bioinformatics tools and databases Experience in homology modeling, structure-based design, molecular dynamics Experience with one or more of the following software suites: Schrodinger, Rosetta, Discovery Studio, FoldX, or comparable modeling platform Use of molecular structure analysis to engineer binding between proteins and their binding partners Programming knowledge using a scripting language such as Perl or Python Strong motivation, passion and commitment to science and engineering of novel entities Ability and desire to work in an interdisciplinary scientific team and the desire to learn new techniques Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects in parallel Ability to analyze and interpret work published in the field and apply it appropriately Corteva Agriscience ™, the world's first dedicated agriculture start-up, serves to enrich the lives of those who produce and those who consume, ensuring progress for generations to come.
