Our team is searching for a Senior Bioinformatics Team Lead to work at our San Diego CA site where we drive innovation and sustainability through the application of biotechnology to solve industrial and consumer needs through the development of novel biomolecules.
As part of the Digitalization team you will provide leadership and expertise in bioinformatics science and help to drive the alignment and building of digital solutions for the research organization.
As a Senior Bioinformatics Team Lead you create chemistry by:
Developing leading and managing Computational Biology and digitalization initiatives and capabilities to accelerate Industrial Biotechnology research at BASF in collaboration with a global team of experts.
Collaborating and coordinating both globally and locally with the disciplines of protein engineering bioinformatics and digital tool implementation to ensure aligned scientific and digital solutions are built and implemented to advance capabilities and optimize biotechnology research workflows.
Developing targets in collaboration with research teams and experts outlining project plans resources and timelines and effectively managing the output and progress of the computational biology and digital team members.
Effectively managing and mentoring computational biology and digital team members to reach their highest potential in terms of developing expertise collaborative teamwork effective communication and providing outstanding support to global and local research initiatives.
Your formula for success
Applying your education background in bioinformatics biochemistry structural biology or related field to advise and lead the computational biology/digitalization work for biotechnology research projects in San Diego.
Demonstrating your Team Lead and/or Management Experience with local and remote teams as well as your effective communication skills to manage and coordinate a diverse global team of digitalization scientists and computational biologists.
Having prior experience to enable you to mentor colleagues in Python script development Linux-based HPC environments pipeline development and proper documentation in addition to direct hands-on bioinformatics work.
Relying on proven communication skills to participate in the larger research community both by sharing your own results and also by providing constructive feedback to colleagues.
Possessing initiative and excitement to explore this rapidly developing field to bring innovation to our most pressing research challenges.
