Using next generation sequencing datasets, the candidate will focus on a comparative analysis of these responses between crop species, at the level of the same single plant cell type, the root hair cell. This project presents opportunities to work in a collaborative environment with computational and molecular biologists. University of Nebraska provides a stimulating atmosphere with excellent facilities including bioinformatics facilities and colleagues for high-quality research in agricultural and plant sciences. In addition to the above-described duties, the individual will be expected to accept committee assignments, reporting responsibilities, and other special ad hoc assignments as requested at the administrative unit, college/division, institute, and/or university level. Minimum Required Qualifications • PhD required in Bioinformatics, Genomics or a closely related field by time of hire. • Ability to manage large-scale sequencing data is essential. Preferred Qualifications • Experience of next-generation sequencing data analysis, computational systems biology and data integration • Solid knowledge in plant genomics, evolution, gene expression/regulation and biological networks • Proven skills in programming (Linux/Unix environments) and algorithm design • Background in molecular and plant biology • Preference will be given to self-motivated candidates with evidence of publications • Excellent communication skills • Ability to work well in a team environment • Strong interest in crop improvement.
