Responsibilities The Nuclear Computational Resource Center Lead will coordinate Nuclear Computational Resource Center operations. Coordinate information and workflow between INL organizations including: High Performance Computing, Technology Deployment, Foreign Visits and Assignments, Export Control, Counterintelligence, Information Management. Establish effective methods for accessing the Center’s resources through websites, online application forms, streamlined review processes, and user engagement. Ensure that the Nuclear Computational Resource Center provides a professional, positive, responsive, detail-oriented approach and improves INL's responsiveness and reputation. Users come from a variety of backgrounds: internal, industry, university, other DOE laboratories, as well as international HPC collaborators. Validate that the requests are consistent with INL access policies. Work with management to ensure valid allocation of resources. Understand the Foreign Visits and Assignments processes for both internal and external users and assure compliance with protocols. Duties will be performed with minimal oversight within defined scope, but working directly and under the direction of INL's Advanced Scientific Computing Director especially when complex issues arise out of the defined scope. Manage staff supporting the NCRC through both a direct line-management arrangement as well as through indirect leadership. Contribute to the achieving of NS&T's vision, mission, goals, and objectives. The Nuclear Computational Resource Center's purpose is to provide a front-door to individuals who need Nuclear-related computational resources such as software licensing and access, HPC access, training and other support. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualification Education/Experience Requirements: • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Engineering plus 5-8 years scientific computing experience is required. • Must have management experience leading teams of 4 or more people. • Experience with scientific computing software or high performance computing systems is required. • Experience managing user engagements such as access to user facilities, training, etc. is preferred. • Experience in R&D infrastructure user engagement is desired. • Must be able to work in a culturally diverse environment. • Ability to interact with staff (at all levels) and perform a variety tasks in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. • Ability to interact with researchers and leadership external to the INL including: university administration, university faculty, university students, industry leaders, vendors, and a diverse group of foreign nationals. • Excellent oral and written communication skills required. • Proficient in the use of Microsoft tools including: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook. • Experience with INL internal computer tools/systems desired. • Excellent organizational skills. • Attention to detail; ability to proofread and edit documents and ensure that all products are professional. • Must maintain confidentiality. • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and make key decisions that influences INL's reputation. • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative. • Ability to work in a team environment across many different organizations at INL.
