Position Description The Machine Learning (ML) Core in the Centre for Computational Medicine (CCM) at The Hospital for Sick Children is seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist. The successful candidate will be able to apply their machine learning knowledge to unique health and biological data to make predictions about pediatric health outcomes over time. The position will report directly to the ML Core Manager and will interact closely with the CCM Director along with personnel in other computational and analytical roles within the CCM team at SickKids. Here's What You'll Need: Master of Science in Computer Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, or equivalent. Proficiency in R and python is essential. Experience with running statistical analyses in real data (preferably health related) is required. Understanding and experience with basic (e.g. random forest, SVMs) and advanced (e.g. deep learning, stochastic processes) machine learning methods is an asset Possess a good level of proficiency in Linux/Unix. Ability to function independently, yet collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team is required. Ability to manage competing demands and deadlines with minimal supervision. Excellent oral and written communication skills. 2 or more years of experience in data analysis, exploration, and/or modeling is a plus Knowledge of biology, lead author publications, and/or tools developed is a plus Employment Type: 1-year contract (part time or full time) with a possibility of extension A complete application should include a statement of interest, a CV, and the names of 2 references.
