Galaxy Project (http://galaxyproject.org) and Nekrutenko Lab are seeking a highly qualified Computational Scientist to work on the newly funded AnVIL initiative (http://bit.ly/psu-anvil). The individual that will be hired in this position is expected to develop effectively in open source communities and with globally distributed teams and objectives and be able to organize and effectively prioritize requirements in such environments, make substantial contributions to determining feasibility of goals, perform outreach and training activities relating to the AnVIL project, mentor assigned staff software developers in the development of technical, project, and related organizational/support skills. The individual will also be expected to author and co-author scientific papers, proposals, presentations and reports. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher in a field of study with focus on computational research methods or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Travel to AnVIL team meetings will also be required. The applicant will need experience with GitHub, git, Python, JavaScript, and SQL. Also, experience building and/or deploying container-based solutions. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with possibility of re-funding.
