Applied Research Associates, Inc. has an outstanding internship opportunity for a full-time student who is currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program and wants to gain related work experience supporting in the field of computational science. The qualified intern will be part of an interdisciplinary team that models and simulates a variety of physical effects on structures and the environment. Projects may include expanding the computational capabilities of existing models and simulations, generating advanced 3D visualization of complex simulations, performing statistical analysis of results from many simulations, conducting simulations using high performance computers, and meshing terrain, geology, and structures. Required Qualifications: Ability to program in Fortran, C++, or Python Eagerness to learn new tools and techniques Strong verbal and written communication skills Familiarity with computational approaches for mechanics of materials (stress, strain, etc). Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance Must be a currently enrolled, full-time student in a Bachelor’s Degree program or above in Computational Science, Computer Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field at an accredited university Desired Experience: Experience programming in Fortran Familiarity large scale visualization tools such as ParaView or VisIt Experience implementing finite element analysis COMPANY INFORMATION: Applied Research Associates, Inc. is an employee-owned international research and engineering company recognized for providing technically superior solutions to complex and challenging problems in the physical sciences.
