Driven by passion and commitment, the CAD team provides actionable insights from physical and data modeling to accelerate therapeutic discovery. Amgen has an opportunity for a dedicated computational chemist to join the CAD team. As part of interdisciplinary team of medicinal and protein chemists and structural and therapeutic biologists, you will utilize molecular modeling and computational chemistry techniques to help drive drug discovery programs through: Applying structure and ligand-based drug design and predictive modeling to advance drug discovery projects. Developing and applying new computational chemistry and molecular modeling methodologies. Basic Qualifications Doctorate degree OR Master’s degree and 4 years of Computational Chemistry experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Computational Chemistry experience Preferred Qualifications PhD. in Computational Chemistry or related field. Strong track record of research accomplishment in computational chemistry with three or more first author scientific publications and/or conference presentations. Method development experience and programming skills in Python and/or C++. Strong knowledge of molecular dynamics simulations and enhanced sampling techniques for protein systems. Experience with systems involving protein-protein interactions such as binding pose predictions and energy calculations. Experience with molecular modeling suites such as MOE, Discovery Studio and Schrodinger. Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary team environment.
