Bioinformatics Research Specialist II: The Molecular Biology Department of Massachusetts General Hospital is a member of Harvard Medical School and is known for cutting edge fundamental research. As a member of our Bioinformatics team, you will contribute to the advancement of computational and biomedical research within the department as well as the greater MGH and HMS community. You will work closely with investigators to answer key biological questions, with the emphasis on genome-scale data analyses. Your background must demonstrate a proven ability to work collaboratively and perform high quality analyses of large datasets in a timely manner.You will have many opportunities to engage in team problem solving, data analysis, and software development. You will contribute code to a shared computational infrastructure and will be expected to meet the high software development standards. You will evaluate existing computational methods and serve as a knowledge resource to collaborators seeking advice about the best tool for a particular problem.This position provides opportunities to publish and present original work including both data analysis in biological projects and new computational methods developed to advance these projects. Minimum requirementsThe successful candidate will have a masters or Ph.D. degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, cell biology, or a related field, and at least 2 years of work experience in bioinformatics. Higher levels of experience are welcome; position may be adjusted accordingly.
