Position Type: Sessional Lecturer I

Course Title: PHY325H5: Mathematical and Computational Physics

Course Description: The theory and application of mathematical methods for the physical sciences. Topics may include: vector calculus, linear algebra applied to coordinate transformations, probability distributions, systems of linear ordinary and partial differential equations and boundary value problems, Fourier analysis and orthogonal functions, the Heat and Wave equations in various coordinate systems, and the use of Legendre polynomials and Spherical Bessel functions. Computational methods and standard software tools will be used to solve complex physics problems.

Salary$8,489.67 (Sessional Lecturer I); $8,869.25 (Sessional Lecturer I Long Term); $9,085.58 (Sessional Lecturer II); $9,301.90 (Sessional Lecturer III). Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in relevant area of Physics. Currency and mastery of subject area required. Past teaching experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching similar course.

Description of Duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including but not limited to preparation and delivery of course content, development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and examinations, calculations and submission of grades, provide direction and supervision of TA's, and holding regular office hours.
