Job Title: Computational Physicist

In this position, you will join a small, dedicated, highly skilled R&D team. Development is still in an early stage, and your insights and contributions will give shape to the ultimate product, and our ultimate success. You will have principal responsibility for modeling and analysis of the core physical processes at the heart of our platform. You will work with bench scientists and engineers from the molecular biology, chemistry, software, hardware and sequencing teams to design experiments and analyze resulting data. Duties will include integrating your solutions into product-grade code for the shipping product.

Essential Qualifications 

• PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as computational physics, computational biophysics, statistics or applied mathematics.
• Track record developing mathematical solutions to real-world problems.
• Ability to develop quantitative methods from first principles of mathematics and physics.
• Proficiency with a standard data analysis platform such as Python, R, Julia or MATLAB.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with single molecule biophysics.
• Knowledge of photo physics of dyes.
• Knowledge of principles of optical microscopy.
• Experience with nano-scale systems, especially nanopores.
• Proficiency with finite element methods.
• Experience with DNA sequencing platforms.
• Experience with development and data analysis for optical instrumentation.
• Industrial experience, including at least one shipped product.

Above all, you have a proven record of success developing models and algorithms for analysis of cutting-edge research data sets.
