Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Associate Professor position in the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of computational methodologies including computer vision, machine learning, and neuroimaging, and employing these methodologies in the study of mental health conditions. The role includes collaboration to develop and validate novel computational behavior analysis methods that provide granular, accurate and efficient assessment tools for clinical research. Successful candidates will have experience in obtaining extramural funding from federal sources, such as NIH. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.

Teaching responsibilities may include training Penn/CHOP medical, engineering, radiology,
developmental behavioral pediatric, neuroscience, psychiatry and psychology students, research
postdoctoral fellows, and others in a computational approach to understanding and addressing
neuropsychiatric variation from the perspective of both phenotype and associated biological
mechanisms.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include conducting computer vision-based investigations of patterns of nonverbal communications and outward expressions of emotion, such as facial expressions, body actions, oral-motor behavior. Additional responsibilities may involve studies integrating multiple data types, including video, language, and neuroimaging data. Research should focus on mental health conditions including autism. Successful candidates will have a strong record of submitting and receiving extramural funding from federal sources, such as NIH, conducting research, and publishing original research findings. The successful candidate will also be expected to have a national reputation for research and scholarship.
