Job Description:

The School of Mathematics & Physics at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint a Research Fellow, to be an active member of the research project/team assisting in the planning and delivery of research on the modelling of non-LTE plasmas relevant to experimental work undertaken on the Orion laser at AWE Aldermaston.

Please note that for this role, security clearance with AWE Aldermaston will form part of the shortlisting procedure.

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:

  • Have degree or equivalent in Physics or physics related subject.
  • Must hold PhD in experimental or computational plasma physics or have submitted thesis.
  • Specific, relevant experience of using computer codes, such as FLYCHK, to model laser-produced plasmas.

This is a full time, fixed term position available for 24 months. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
