Applications are invited for appointments asa Post-doctoral Fellow in Computational Geomechanics in the Department of Earth Sciences The University of Hong Kong (Ref.: 523454) to commence as soon as possible for 1 year with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work on a project focused on underground fire safety conducting numerical studies to investigate Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical (THM) coupled processes. The aim is to enhance understanding of stress pore pressure and temperature distribution and evolution within rock support systems over time as well as the extent of fire-induced damage in rocks.
Requirements
- a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering Geotechnical Engineering or Solid Mechanics obtained within the past 2 years
- Strong background in computational geomechanics
