We are looking for a talented Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Simulation Engineercandidate to join our team specializing in Thermal and Fluid Systems Engineering for our Corporate Business in Columbus, IN and/or your remote home office.
In this early career role as a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Simulation Engineer, you will perform analyses to deliver insights relative to the thermal and flow characteristics of components or systems including engines, aftertreatment, power generation, fuel cells, battery systems, and hybrid systems.
As a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Simulation Engineer you will:
Utilize the core competencies of thermal and fluid sciences.
Use 1D system level simulation tools and 3D component simulation tools.
Analyze liquid and gas flows and correlate your output with experimental results.
Apply the principles of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer to real-world problems.
Employ advanced three-dimensional analytical modeling tools to answer key questions about the performance and architecture of a system or component.
Analyze results to drive decisions which ultimately lead to state-of-the-art, highly effective, environmentally friendly, and competitive products.
You will make an impact by:
Analytically investigating the performance of products, systems, and/or technologies related to thermal and fluid sciences.
Exploring/understanding fundamental physics and recommending appropriate actions for problem resolution and/or optimization
Actively collaborating with key stakeholders and colleagues, using analysis results to impact and support the successful advancement of projects.
Owning problem resolution for components/systems with a high degree of technical complexity and ambiguity
Using tools related to thermal and fluid sciences such as:
ANSYS (Discovery, SpaceClaim, Fluent, CFX, Workbench meshing, Fluent meshing)
CONVERGE (Combustion CFD)
Post-processing (Ensight, Fieldview, CFD Post)
1D System Modeling (GT Suite / Kuli)
Optimization-related: MATLAB, Python, Shell scripting, modeFRONTIER
High Performance Computing (HPC)
To be successful in this role you will need:
A College, University or equivalent Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field.
A postgraduate (Master’s or PhD) degree may be required for select Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulation Engineer roles.
Good communication skills along with strengths in logic and planning
Good decision-making skills
Experience using Microsoft Office tools or equivalents, especially Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Degree Programs Considered: Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD
Major Programs Typically Considered: All Engineering Majors
Cummins Full Time Requirements:
College, university or equivalent technical experience required
Minimum 2.5 GPA or above required
Must be able to complete 40 hours per week
0-2 years in a position/internship relating to your field of study preferred

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
