Informatics & Predictive Sciences at CITRE performs innovative computational research to inform decisions across all stages of drug development. Areas of research include computational and network biology machine/deep learning cheminformatics predictive modeling patient stratification and method development for analysis and interpretation of biological data. Job Description We seek for a computational biologist with a strong background in methods development to join our research team in Sevilla (Spain) and contribute to our research activities the development novel computational strategies to preclinical and translational research in close collaboration with the Oncogenesis TRC. The successful candidate will work alongside a multidisciplinary group of wet-lab clinicial and computational scientists to development and apply innovative computational biology strategies to generate and test actionable hypotheses from genomics NGS single-cell and multi-modal data. This position offers the opportunity to directly impact the origination and development of novel therapies in diseases with unmet medical needs as well as broad exposure to diverse clinical and analytical research challenges. Key Responsibilities Propose and guide the adoption if innovative computational strategies applied to systems biology. Develop and apply statistical frameworks to model and interrogate complex multi-modal and high-dimensional data. Participate in the scientific discussion of the results within a multidisciplinary team and translate the mechanistic findings into actionable hypothesis. Contribute to planning and execution of collaborative projects with leading academic and commercial research groups worldwide. Author scientific reports to publishable standard. Requirements Ph.D. in computational biology bioinformatics biostatistics or related field from a recognized higher-education establishment. 2+ years of post-doctoral experience applying quantitative approaches to solve biological problems in university hospital pharma or biotech research environments. Complementary Skills Statistical programming and data manipulation skills using contemporary open-source bioinformatics tools (e.g. R/Bioconductor and Python). Previous experience with contemporary bioinformatics and systems biology approaches (e.g. differential expression and pathway analysis) applied to the analysis of both bulk and single-cell high-throughput molecular profiling (e.g. transcriptomics proteomics and epigenetics). Track record of peer-reviewed publications in top-tier scientific journals. Excellent verbal and written communication skills - fluent verbal and written English language skills prerequisite.
