Job Description:

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the College of Science at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is seeking applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor faculty position in the broad scope of computational chemistry. We seek a candidate with the potential to expand research activities in the Department and College, the ability to engage in collaborative approaches, and the interest to interact within any or all of the common chemistry subdivisions including: Organic, Inorganic, Physical, and Analytical. The successful candidate will be expected (1) to build an excellent research program, and attract external funding to build and sustain it; (2) to have a commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels; (3) to mentor, teach and direct students research from the undergraduate to postdoctoral levels; and (4) to engage in outreach and service activities.  Anticipated appointment date is September 1, 2024.


Requirements:

An earned doctorate in chemistry or biochemistry in any subdivision with a related emphasis in computational chemistry. A strong record of research accomplishments (e.g. a strong publication record). Postdoctoral experience is preferred. Applicants are expected to have the ability to obtain external funding, and direct independent and collaborative research.
