YOUR TEAM

You'd be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where molecular biologists, genomic technologists and computational scientists collaborate, each with their own expertise, to carry out common research. 

The Genomics Facility is coordinated by Diego Vozzi who has extensive experience in Genomic technologies and Human Genetics.

Within the team, your main responsibilities will be:

  • To manage large amount of sequencing data and to set up some standardized DNAseq/RNAseq analysis pipelines and software infrastructure required for the Genomics Facility users.

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU SHINE

  • Master in Bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of documented experience in the field
  • Documented experience with the analysis of high throughput DNA/RNA sequencing data and command of the related computational tools.
  • Strong knowledge of the main bioinformatics data types and formats
  • Proficiency in working in a Linux environment and experience with HPC clusters and scheduling systems (eg Slurm, PBS)
  • Background in (molecular) biology, good communication skills and willingness to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment are essential, as the successful candidate will interact extensively with experimental life scientists at IIT
  • The ability to properly document, organize and publish research data
  • Good command in spoken and written English

EXTRA AWESOME

  • A good proficiency in R or Python
  • Experience with version control systems and repositories (eg Git, GitHub and/or GitLab)
    • Previous working knowledge of Oxford Nanopore sequencing data formats and pipelines
  • Skills in the management of -omic datasets, and in the development of analysis pipelines with container systems (eg Docker, Singularity) and workflow management engines (eg Nextflow, Snakemake) .
  • Good in time and priority management
  • Ability to work in a challenging and international environment
