The Division of Drug Product Development Materials Science & Engineering Group at Bristol Myers Squibb is seeking a highly motivated computational chemist with expertise in crystal structure prediction of small organic molecules molecular modeling and crystal structure design. This role will oversee efforts in Crystal Structure Prediction (CSP) for early development pharmaceutical candidates including working with external vendors and helping to support and standardize CSP as a key workflow within MSE. This role will also oversee efforts to provide in silico approaches to crystal engineering crystal structure design and co-crystal prediction and development. Responsibilities: Support Crystal Structure Prediction at Bristol Myers Squibb Plan scope of work for critical assets based on project needs and known solid state form space. Execute and/or oversee CSP studies on priority assets Provide energy rankings for known structures Suggest and design additional CSP studies for key forms Present results to project teams and assist in design of experiments to crystallize predicted forms. Work to develop new approaches to CSP which best meet challenges posed by specific BMS compounds Develop computational approaches for Crystal Engineering projects Utilize computational tools to provide understanding of relative stability of known crystalline forms provide assessment of relative stability of similar compounds based on known crystal structures Utilize CSP and other computational tools to assist with crystal structure design of novel forms Develop new tools to assist with co-crystal prediction workflows Assist with design of experiments to help produce new crystalline forms including solvent temperature pressure and other environmental or chemical variables. Requirements: PhD in Computational Chemistry or related field with 1-3 years relevant work experience in Crystal Structure Prediction. Experience with various computational chemistry software packages such as: QuantumESPRESSO VASP or similar Gaussian Psi4 Orca or similar Crystal TURBOMOLE or similar CHARMM LAMMPS OpenMM or similar Proficiency in Python scripting Experience in setting up executing and troubleshooting atomistic simulations on high performance computers. Desirable skills: Familiarity with the Cambridge Structural Database and related tools specifically the CSD Python API.
