Position description
The Department of Physics & Astronomy at UCLA seeks outstanding candidates for a part-time (35%) position as a Project Scientist in the area of Computational Microscopy. The position will focus on the development of novel computational and deep-learning algorithms for coherent diffractive (CDI), ptychography and tomography.
Tasks include i) developing new phase retrieval algorithms for CDI and ptychography; ii) developing novel tomographic algorithms for the three-dimensional reconstruction of radiation sensitive materials; and iii) incorporating deep learning into phase retrieval and tomographic algorithms. Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D. in Physics, applied mathematics, computer science or a related field, 5+ years’ experience and a demonstrated background directly applicable to the tasks, including experience with Python, MATLAB, deep learning, phase retrieval, CDI, ptychography, and tomography. Experience with image processing, scientific computing, parallel computing are significant pluses.
