The Informatics and Predictive Sciences (IPS) mission is to Pioneer Partner and Predict to drive transformative insights for patient benefit. IPS conducts applied computational research in areas that include genomic structural and molecular informatics computational and systems biology patient selection and translational biomarker research and broader fields including knowledge science epidemiology and machine learningacross the full lifecycle of drug discovery and development and across all therapeutic areas at BMS. We are seeking a highly motivated bioinformatician with discovery preclinical or clinical experience to join our Translational Bioinformatics Immunology Cardiovascular and Neurology (ICN) team within Informatics and Predictive Sciences group. The successful candidate will help advance Bristol Myers Squibbs industry leading ICN programs through the strategic application of cutting edge bioinformatics approaches. Responsibilities Analyze various -omic-scale data generated from human subjects in BMS clinical trials and other observational cohorts including RNA-Seq Exome and Whole Genome Sequencing high throughput proteomics and multiplex flow cytometry to build comprehensive understanding of diseases identify segments of patients with unmet medical needs form drug combination strategy and inform new targets prioritization. Generate testable and interpretable hypotheses from patient derived data sets to inform precision discovery programs. Maximize application of clinical data on research and early pipeline programs via reverse translation projects in close partnership with teams across Research and Development including bioinformaticians statisticians biologists biomarker leads and clinicians. Define and execute statistical/computational analysis plans. Participate in authorship of scientific reports and present methods and conclusions to publishable standards. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in bioinformatics engineering statistics physics molecular biology genetics or a similar discipline and 8+ years of academic / industry experience or Master's Degree in bioinformatics engineering statistics physics molecular biology genetics or a similar discipline and 6+ years of academic / industry experience or PhD in bioinformatics engineering statistics physics molecular biology genetics or a similar discipline and 4+ years of academic / industry experience Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in bioinformatics engineering statistics physics molecular biology genetics or a similar discipline. Five (5) or more years relevant experience in preclinical or clinical research for principal scientist level Position can be filled at a different level based on depth of experience and scientific expertise Experience and expertise integrating large complex sparse non-oncology multi-modal data sets including germline genetics disease biopsies circulating biomarkers and reference single-cell -omics. Expertise in modern AI/ML methods to generate testable and interpretable hypothesis regarding causal disease biology and identification of homogeneous subsets of patients complex disorders Problem-solving and collaboration skills rigorous and creative thinking Ability to communicate effectively with biologists and computational scientists. Proficiency using high level programming languages (R and Bioconductor packages preferred) Background in immunoscience cardiovascular or neurological diseases preferred Proven track record of independent research under minimal supervision. The starting compensation for this job is a range from $121000 to $167200 plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job such as required skills and where the job is performed.
