Principal Scientist Translational Bioinformatics Informatics & Predictive Sciences We are seeking a talented and motivated computational scientist to join the Translational Bioinformatics team at Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS). This role will lead the analysis of multimodal datasets generated from novel technologies with BMS Translational Research and other collaborators across the organization. This scientist will be a critical contributor for Precision Discovery efforts to identify biomarker-defined patient segments and target hypotheses for the next generation of BMS assets. This position would suit an individual with strong computational and biological capabilities with a demonstrated track record of translating complex data into testable hypotheses. The Translational Bioinformatics group provides an exciting opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams across the R&D pipeline make major contributions to scientific knowledge of cancer disease biology and to directly impact treatment of cancer patients. Responsibilities Under the guidance of senior team members engage key stakeholders in BMS Translational Research and other teams across the organization to define and execute biomarker analysis plans on multimodal datasets from pre-clinical BMS clinical trial and real-world data cohorts. Develop computational methods for patient segmentation from molecular profiling datasets for various treatment modalities to inform oncology strategy. Perform analyses of data generated by cutting edge technologies (e.g. scRNAseq spatial transcriptomics high parametric flow and in-vitro immune function assays) Evaluate and apply machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) methods to enable precision discovery efforts. Interrogate mechanisms of disease biology to accurately predict response or resistance to BMS therapies. Summarize analysis results and report conclusions to BMS decision-making bodies. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in computational biology bioinformatics statistics or related fields and 8+ years of academic / industry experience or Master's Degree in computational biology bioinformatics statistics or related fields and 6+ years of academic / industry experience or PhD in computational biology bioinformatics statistics or related fields and 4 + years of academic / industry experience Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in computational biology bioinformatics statistics or related fields. At least 4 years of industry experience or equivalent. Strong experience with data generated by one or more -omics or molecular assays is required (e.g. Next-Generation Sequencing scRNAseq spatial transcriptomics high parametric flow cytometry and in vitro immune function assays). Strong experience in the use of a high-level programming language such as R or Python for complex data analysis and reproducible research practices. Understanding of disease biology in oncology or immuno-oncology is preferred. The ability to evaluate and apply machine ML/AI methods is preferred. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and to handle several concurrent fast-paced projects. Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills and rigorous and creative thinking. Excellent communication data presentation and visualization skills.
