Pay Range

$5380 - $7372 Monthly

Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education experience the external labor market and internal equity.

Job Description

NOTE: This is a one-year Academic Graduate Appointee with the possibility of extension to a maximum of two years. For important information about LLNL appointments refer to the FAQs above.

We have an opening for a Academic Graduate Appointee to participate in biomedical research to work in the area of computational biology . You will work in a highly integrated environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop new algorithms and methods and analyze large scale multi-omics data. This position is in the Biosciences and Biotechnology Division Human Health Sciences Group.

You will

  • Design and implement methods to analyze large-scale data including bulk RNA-seq and single-cell/spatial transcriptomic data CHIP-seq and proteomics data and perform integrative functional analysis.
  • Organize analyze and present data from research at seminars technical meetings national and international conferences.
  • Contribute to and actively participate in the conception design and execution of research to address defined problems.
  • Collaborate with others in a multidisciplinary team environment and other national laboratories and industry to accomplish research goals.
  • Publish research results in peer-reviewed scientific or technical journals and present results at external conferences seminars and/or technical meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computational Biology Bioinformatics Biostatistics Computer Science Data Science or related field.
  • Proficiency in R Python and/or Perl and familiarity with the Linux environment.
  • A solid understanding of biological principles and bioinformatics terminologies.
  • Familiarity with commonly used bioinformatics tools and databases.
  • Proficient interpersonal verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment with a diverse technical staff.
  • Ability to multi-task with a team on multiple time constrained projects.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and incorporate feedback at a professional manner.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience in Data Mining and Machine Learning.
