About us:
NRGene Canada is a wholly owned subsidiary of NRGene Ltd., a publicly traded Israeli company (TASE:NRGN). NRGene’s mission is to develop better crops for agriculture by applying the most advanced genomic analysis technology to accelerate natural breeding (non-GMO). NRGene Canada is based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where it operates as an R&D center applying NRGene’s technology towards applications such as genotyping and the development of new traits in canola plants and other organisms.
About this position:
As a Computational Biologist you will develop novel computational tools and research solutions for NRGene’s global customers and internal needs. The position requires strong data-science capabilities along with deep understanding of the existing state-of-the-art tools. You will hold a leading role both scientifically and technically, assist in mentoring co-workers and customers, be innovative and pursue excellence.
* This is an on-site position in Saskatoon, SK, Canada and it is open for Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and legal work permit holders of Canada (No exceptions).

Responsibilities:
- Conduct computational genomics research using internal and external tools.
- Develop tools for genomics research.
- Support team members with computational analysis.
- Write and manage code in organized company repositories using Github.
- Manage instances and services in a cloud environment (AWS).
The preferred applicant would have the following qualifications:
- MSc/PhD in Bioinformatics / Computational Biology / Biostatistics.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in genomics analysis.
- Proven +3 years of coding experience in: Python, Bash.
- Proven coding and working experience in the industry – major advantage.
◦ Self-sufficient, able to manage and perform independently research and development tasks end-to-end.
◦ Strong interpersonal & communication skills in English
◦ Ability to adapt to a dynamic changing environment and multitask. Able to deliver in stressful situations.
Requirements:
- Work in an office located in SASK.
- Availability for weekly zoom meetings (1-2 a week, at approx. 7am – 8am) early in the morning with the Israeli team. Can be done from home.
- Report work progress in Jira (project management tool).
