Job Description:

The Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics is one of the largest and strongest of its kind in Europe. The Department currently hosts approximately 140 Academic and Research Staff and around 160 PhD students at the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, a purpose-built complex on Wilberforce Road, Cambridge.

You will serve as a Senior Teaching Associate in Mathematics Computational Practical (MathComP), taught within the Natural Sciences Tripos, and as the Assistant Director of Computer Aided Teaching of All Mathematics (CATAM), taught within the Mathematics Tripos.

As a Senior Teaching Associate of MathComP, you will be responsible for developing an updated set of computing practicals for the NST Mathematics course which will cover various topics including numerical integration, root finding, numerical solutions to differential equations, and linear algebra. You will also be responsible for organising assessments of the projects including submission, marking, and feedback.

Initially, you will also support the present Assistant Director for CATAM, with the expectation that you will take over as the Assistant Director in due course. In this new role, you will work closely with the CATAM Director to update the CATAM projects and manual, maintain the CATAM website, operate the CATAM help desk, organise meetings of the Computational Project Assessment Committee, manage electronic submissions and coordinate assessments, mark checking, and reporting.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
