What You Will Do

The Physics and Chemistry of Materials group (T-1) and Center for Nonlinear Studies (CNLS) at Los Alamos National Laboratory, are seeking exceptional candidates for a postdoctoral appointment in the modeling of solid-state materials for radiation detection and photoemission. The successful candidate will work with Enrique R. Batista, Gaoxue Wang and Ping Yang at Theoretical Division. The candidate will employ electronic structure methods to model charged defects and impurities in germanium detector for the detection of double-beta decay, and photoemission of photocathodes for applications in accelerators. The candidate will work in interdisciplinary teams investigating germanium detector and photocathodes in collaboration with materials scientists, physicists, and chemists.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Candidates should have

1. a strong theoretical background in condensed matter physics (Density functional theory, wave-function based methods, and molecular dynamics);

2. experience with major quantum chemistry and/or plane wave computational packages;

3. computer programming skills to develop code, modify and edit existing codes and scripts.

Desired Qualifications:

Computational method development and building code from scratch

Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos, NM.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2.
