We’re seeking a Scientist II – Computational Chemist to join Ra Pharmaceuticals – UCB’s chemistry group as an integrated team member supporting small molecule and peptide drug discovery projects as well as the development of permeable peptide platforms. You like to work in an environment where you can: Apply both structure and ligand based computational modeling methods to support all aspects of medicinal chemistry programs from hit to lead and lead optimization Design and model cyclic peptide scaffold conformations for the development of large peptide libraries Develop cheminformatics and bioinformatics tools to support hit deconvolution and hit follow-up efforts from the extreme diversity mRNA display and the permeable peptide platforms. You will contribute by: Leverage your computational chemistry experience by working with cross-functional teams in small molecule and peptide drug discovery Develop your professional presence internally as a computational chemistry subject matter expert Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills: Minimum Qualifications: Advanced degree in computational chemistry, computational biology, computational chemical biology, or related field; with 3+ years of industry experience as computational chemist. Demonstrated strong track record of research accomplishment in computational chemistry; deep understanding of structural biology, MM and QM methods; and strong data analysis skills. Mastery of computational software such as MOE, openeye, any MD simulation program and QM software. Preferred Qualifications: Familarity with Schrodinger, Pipeline pilot or KNIME, R and a scripting language are desired. Working knowledge with linux OS environment preferred.
