Job Summary ExxonMobil is looking for an experienced software architect with expertise in designing and developing commercial quality scientific computing or data science applications. We are looking for dynamic, creative, and resourceful individuals to join our digital transformation efforts in a broad set of oil & gas areas including geoscience, engineering, and commercial domains. The successful candidate will work to design and implement software to support critical business decisions across the entire value chain. Job Responsibilities Distill problem definitions and constraints from informal or abstract business requirements and engineering problems; handle ambiguity and competing objectives Architect and implement both new and existing proprietary scientific and engineering software applications, selecting the appropriate software technologies and development processes that result in high quality, scalable, and robust software products Mentor, train, and collaborate with domain specialists to improve software development skills and modernize software engineering methodologies Design, implement, and automate rigorous test suites to verify correctness and validate applicability of scientific software for business applications Expected Level of Proficiency MS in Computer Science or other related scientific or engineering disciplines, or the equivalent level of professional experience, combined with strong computational modeling (physics-based modeling or data analytics) and general numerical analysis (with a focus on analysis and implementation of algorithms). Proficient in multiple compiled software languages (with strong emphasis on C++) and multiple scripting languages (with strong emphasis on python) Experience in selecting and implementing appropriate architecture for data science or numerical modeling applications, being able to integrate a range of modern technologies to create complete software products (relevant experiences could include working with compute clusters, HPC systems, Cloud services, container frameworks, databases, visualization packages, web frameworks, etc.). Demonstrated ability to follow emerging SW architecture trends and introduce new technologies into projects at appropriate times Proficient in agile and lean software practices Experience in continuous integration and continuous delivery/deployment through DevOps practices Experience establishing and stewarding quality metrics to ensure delivered products are reliable, robust, extensible, and sustainable Experience in designing and implementing automated test suites, including unit tests, integration tests, and system tests Alternate Location: ExxonMobil is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
