EDUCATION DESIRED: Ph.D. in Physics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Electrical Engineering ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Analyze and design algorithms, protocols, and architectures for scientific computing applications. Present ideas and results in effective technical presentations, write technical papers, reports and proposals. Work effectively in a collaborative environment. EXPERIENCE DESIRED: Demonstrated research experience in computational science, the development and analysis of fault tolerance protocols, and design and analysis of algorithms. KNOWLEDGE DESIRED: In depth understanding of high performance computing. Coursework or experience in theoretical computer science. Analysis and/or development of efficient approximation algorithms. Knowledge of discrete mathematics, numerical analysis and scientific computing techniques. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Excellent written and verbal communications skills, excellent problem solving skills, ability to work in team environment, ability to sit for long periods of time at a computer monitor, and ability to travel. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (e.g. driver’s license, special tools or restrictions): U.S. citizenship. Active TS clearance or ability to obtain one.
