DESCRIPTION TWO POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR POSITIONS - APPLIED AND COMPUTATIONAL MATHEMATICS UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SANTA BARBARA DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS Applicants should apply through UC Recruit ONLY at: https://recruit.ap.ucsb.edu/JPF01832 The Department of Mathematics at University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for two postdoctoral positions broadly in the area of applied and computational mathematics. The candidate is expected to have a good knowledge of numerical method development, with expertise in at least one of the following areas: analysis of electronic structure models, multiscale modeling, tensor networks, or quantum physics. Candidates with physics, chemistry, or materials science backgrounds who have extensive experience in terms of method development are also welcome. The positions are for one (1) year with possibility of renewal for additional years, up to three (3) years in total based on performance and funding availability. The positions permit the teaching of two under/graduate courses during the academic year in the appropriate teaching title. Appointments to be effective November 01, 2020; Due to current immigration policies, candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States, as the University of California may be unable to provide sponsorship.
