Amgen Rhode Island has been supplying vital drugs for patients for over 15 years. We are growing with the addition of a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility! We have an outstanding opportunity in the Manufacturing Business Performance group for a Data Scientist to help translate our new and historical data into business and technical insights. We are seeking highly motivated candidates with a passion for data analytics, statistical modeling, and data visualization technologies to join our team. The successful candidate will build visualizations and perform analyses that support business decisions, streamline work planning, improve operational efficiency, and predict and prevent deviations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Understanding business needs and developing practical data-driven solutions to meet those needs Creating analytical models and visualizations that make business and process data actionable at all levels of manufacturing operations, from supporting process troubleshooting at the floor to driving strategic decisions for the plant Exploring and evaluating new digital tools and techniques to improve the team’s operational capabilities Performing ad hoc data analysis for executive audiences Driving multi-functional collaboration and alignment on standard methodologies and novel applications Fostering a culture of data analytics and visualization through sharing of best practices as well as mentorship and training of interested manufacturing staff The Data Scientist will be engaged in the integration of data and information management systems, working with various operations groups at Amgen Rhode Island. This individual will also be a liaison between the plants and Amgen corporate functions working on advanced digital transformation programs. Basic Qualification Doctorate Degree OR Master's Degree and 3 years of Engineering, Operations, or Scientific experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of Engineering, Operations, or Scientific experience OR Associate’s degree and 10 years of Engineering, Operations, or Scientific experience OR High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Engineering, Operations, or Scientific experience Preferred Qualification Degree(s) in Engineering, Life Sciences, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or Bioinformatics Expertise in problem formulation for development of computational models Proficiency in multiple programming languages, with emphasis on SQL, Python, and/or R Experience with advanced statistical/analytical techniques and machine learning algorithms Proficiency in at least one statistical software package (such as SIMCA or JMP) Experience with data visualization tools or packages, such as Tableau or Spotfire Familiarity with bio/pharmaceutical development and/or manufacturing and regulatory requirements Experience working in a multi-functional team environment with multifunctional partners and stakeholders Experience accessing, processing, filtering, and analyzing large quantities of data stored in data warehouse or data lake repositories and extracted directly from the source systems Our culture is what makes Amgen a special place to work.
