Position Summary
The Department of Chemistry at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York invites applications for a faculty position in computational chemistry related to human health at the level of Assistant Professor. Candidates with research interests in computational structural biology and dynamics of biomacromolecules, structure-guided drug design, small molecule in silico screening and docking, machine learning in chemical biology and medicinal chemistry, and modeling of biochemical processes are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates should have a strong background in physical and biophysical chemistry, and computational techniques including molecular dynamics simulations. This position is part of a multi-faculty recruitment effort supported by the Office of the Provost under the Disciplinary Excellence initiative.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous and federally funded research program, and be committed to teaching a diverse student body at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to serve the Department, university, and discipline. The Department of Chemistry at the University at Buffalo is entering a period of unprecedented growth supercharged by the Disciplinary Excellence initiative. The current search is phase one of a multi-faculty hiring effort aimed at enhancing the existing strengths in chemical biology and medicinal chemistry. The successful candidate will teach and train students in these programs and will complement existing strengths involving the design and discovery of drugs, synthetic chemistry, disease diagnostics and therapeutics, biomimetic chemistry, biosensing, molecular recognition and bioanalysis.
