TRAVEL REQUIRED: LESS THAN 10% PUBLIC TRUST: NONE REQUISITION TYPE: REGULAR The Department of Defense (DoD) High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) Productivity Enhancement and Training (PET) initiative. PET enhances the capability and productivity of the HPCMP community through training collaboration, tool and software development, technology transfer, and outreach. We currently have a position in Stennis, MS for an Computational Scientist with expertise in Climate/Weather/Ocean (CWO) supporting the assessment of model performance on varying computational platforms. Position can start remote and then will be on-site at Stennis. Position requires NO travel. Typical Tasks: Assessment of current and future HPC core/node requirements for Climate Weather Ocean (CWO) codes/models which are running or will be run on HPC systems. Assess potential model performance on varying computational platforms such as Intel, ARM, AMD, etc. Develop Meteorological and Oceanographic Center (METOC)/HPC mutual metric to ensure computational requirements are accurately Assess computational requirements for Navy’s current suite of models run operationally to include global and regional atmospheric and ocean models. Experience with High Performance Computing, CWO codes/models. Duties may include the following; Develop Meteorological and Oceanographic Center (METOC)/HPC mutual metric to ensure computational requirements are accurately expressed for current and future models. Emerging Hardware (HW) Exploration: Supporting the evaluation of emerging hardware for potential deployment EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Education: Masters & 5+ years Experience with HPC science or engineering programs Must be a US Citizen and be have a minimum of an interim DoD Secret clearance to start.
