What Your Job Will Be Like:
Are you passionate about using your structural/mechanical engineering expertise to guide agile development of solid mechanics applications as a Scrum master? Join the user and application support services team - an integral part of Sandias scientific engineering and high-performance computing environment! In this role you will partner with technical/engineering product owners to ensure continuous refinement of the backlog communicate delivery of work product review team practices enable team efficiency and health and escalate key risks and issues.
On any given day you may be called on to:
- Learn how the solid mechanics application works and grow your ability to triage and resolve end-user support requests
- Provide Scrum expertise for software development teams supporting high fidelity solid mechanics simulations
- Empower the team to improve effectiveness and meet product delivery timelines by identifying and addressing impediments affecting the team's efficiency
- Guide and mentor teams through efficient self-organization to improve the adoption of Scrum principles framework
- Identify and evolve creative techniques and processes to enable the Scrum framework to further improve the efficiency of the development team
- Hold productive daily stand-ups reviews retrospectives and planning sessions
- Triage or resolve end-user support requests and provide status to the team
- Connect with Sandia users and the broader user community in support of high priority user support
Due to the nature of the work the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
This job will be classified as R&D Mechanical Engineer.
Qualifications We Require:
- Bachelors and Masters degrees in a relevant STEM field or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q security clearance
Qualifications We Desire:
- Knowledge of computational solid mechanics domain (finite element method structural dynamics)
- Certified Scrum master or Certified Scrum Professional and willingness to continue learning in these fields
- Interest in and ability to understand a variety of technical fields (modeling simulation high performance computing visualization data analysis and engineering analysis)
- Superb communication and people skills to perform optimally in a teaming environment
- Critical thinking synthesis and problem-solving skills
- Dedication to Agile principles and practices particularly for software
- Knowledge of Clean Code practices and principles such as test- driven development and pair programming
- Ability to prioritize lead and complete projects within appropriate scope and timeframe
- Experience with various support tools such as Jira Confluence Teams etc.
- Two years' experience working as a scrum master for technical software development teams
